Spencer Barney, M.D., is a board-certified Ob/Gyn and fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. He grew up in southern, central, and northern Utah. With degrees from BYU (B.S. in Zoology) and the University of Utah (M.D.), he happily treats both Cougars and Utes alike. Dr. Barney completed his residency at the University of New Mexico, where he was chief resident and a member of AOA.
Dr. Barney loves being a women’s health provider because it allows him to form long-term relationships with patients as he provides skilled, personalized, full-spectrum obstetric and gynecologic care across the everyday and the extraordinary moments of their lives. He has extensive experience in robotic and laparoscopic surgery. He not only operates on the daVinci surgical robot but has also proctored other physicians on this device. He is also one of only three providers in the state currently certified to perform the Acessa fibroid treatment procedure.
Dr. Barney also speaks Spanish.
Outside of work, Dr. Barney enjoys spending time with his wife and five children. He loves hiking, wood carving, usually wins at board games, can repair most any sprinkler problem, and takes seriously his role as family dessert taste tester.
